ASTHMA,CAUSES,TREATMENT,PREVENT

 ASTHMA

 A person with asthma has fits or attacks of difficult breathing.Listen for a hissing or wheezing sound,especially when breathing out.When he breathes in,the skin behind his collar bones and between his ribs may suck in as he tries to get air.Notice how he speaks.lf he cannot finish a sentence in one breath,the attack is very severe. He may also be too breathless to get up from lying or sitting down. If the person cannot get enough air,his nails and lips may turn blue.Usually there is no fever.

 Asthma often begins in childhood and maybe a problem for life.It is not contagious,but is more common in children with relatives who have asthma.It is generally worse during certain months of the year.It is always worse at night,and often with a dry cough.

Person who as asthma for years may develop a condition like emphysema(it is a serious condition of the lungs and damage done is permanent. He is hard to breath,especially during exercise.in some the chest becomes big like barrel). 

CAUSES OF ASTHMA 

It may be caused by eating or breathing things to which the person is allergic.

Or it may be caused by common cold

In some person nervousness or worry play a part in bringing on an asthma attack

in others it may be brought on by heavy exercise,especially when the air is very cold or dry.

TREATMENTS OF ASTHMA

 1.If asthma get worse inside the house,the person should go outside to a place where the air is clean.Remain calm and be gentle with the person.Reassure him. 

2.Give a lot of liquids. This loosens mucus and makes breathing easier.Breathing water vapor may also help. 

3.For mild attacks give salbutamol. 

4.If the attack is bad inject Adrenalin.Adults: 1/2 ampule;children 1/4 ampule.Also give prednisolone 5mg tablets. 

5.Inhalers can also be use. 

PREVENTION 

A person with asthma should avoid eating or breathing things that bring on attacks.

The house and the work place should be kept clean.

Do not let chickens or other animals inside.

 Avoid chemical fumes,industrial dusts,paint sprays,and in pesticides.

Prevent bats nesting in the roof space.

 Put bedding out to air in the sunshine.
